The initial scans into Adobe Acrobat PDF format of the part one handwritten and illustrated recipes in 2002 used HP Precision Scan Pro software, scanning in true color with output resolution 150 and sharpen level medium and 8.5x11 inch size pages. This was just below the required resolution for printing nice images of the pages, but the next settings quadrupled the file size from 600 or 700 K to 2500 K or so on average, making them a bit unwieldy. This issue will have to be revisited.
